My friend, Sarah asked me if I could 'fancify' my original knot dress to include layers of ruffles in back and a ruffle that extends all the way around (ok, she probably never actually said the word 'fancify', if it is actually a word, but that is what I heard in my head). As you can see in the picture, we decided to put 7 rows of ruffle on the back, alternating the body fabric to provide some cohesion in the design. Although the ruffles were quite labor intensive, I think the result is fantastic and totally worth it!
Sarah found the geisha fan fabric at JoAnn and I paired four of JoAnn's cotton calico prints with it to achieve the final look. Happy Birthday, Emmaline!
ETA: According to blogger spellchecker, 'fancify' is indeed not a word... but I like it!
