The 'Nook

If you say 'nook' these days, most people think of the competitor for the Kindle e-book reader.. but in my shop the nook refers to the 'Breakfast Nook'. I haven't made one of these for awhile but it was fun to revisit it, especially with this awesome Michael Miller Delovely Damask fabric!

This one made me think...

..or should I say re-think? Whenever I get invited to a baby shower, my 'go to' gift has been some combination of a diaper bag, breakfast nook nursing cover, dipee/wipee case, etc..... until now! Michelle asked me to make a coordinating breakfast nook nursing cover and mei tai baby carrier for a baby shower she is throwing and I think it makes the perfect gift! I love the idea of giving a new mom something that she may not know she needed (or existed for that matter) if you stray from the registry.

The fabric that I used on these two is a teal and brown 'sunburst' pattern from JoAnn and it is paired with a chocolate brown denim on the Mei Tai.

Get cozy in this nook

This 'breakfast nook'! I can't take credit for the name, that was all Nater but I love it! This is the perfect tool to keep yourself concealed while you and your newborn try to figure out how to nurse in public (or at home when company drops by!). I learned the hard way that this very functional and stylish nursing covers is an absolute MUST for a new mom.

Again, I have to give a shout out to the buyers at JoAnn. They now stock this fabulous Alexander Henry print there which I love!

For those of you that are tired of my sad pictures of finished products hanging from the coat rack in my sewing room, here is a special treat ;-) A sad picture of the finished project hanging from my very exciting french doors - hey, I try!

The Ultimate Shower Gift for the Ultimate Shower!

Last weekend my friend Lisa and I threw what we considered the 'ultimate' baby shower for our friend Laura. Lisa was responsible for the menu, I was responsible for the gift and we collaborated on the decorations. Everything turned out fabulous and we were so excited to help Laura prepare to meet her special little girl who we hope to meet next month!

Here is a picture of the table spread (notice the popcorn cones?! LOL!).

And the 'ultimate shower gift: Diaper bag, nursing cover, diaper case, tissue case, and two burp cloths/changing pads. The pink paisley fabric is from P Kaufman and the lining is Amy Butler.

Superbowl project

I'm not much fan of professional football teams (I pretty much limit my football watching to the Buckeyes!) so I needed something to keep me busy during the game while I waited for the next commercial break. This was the perfect project - a 'breakfast nook' nursing cover. For me, this was a must have when I was bf-ing my son, I never would have been coordinated enough to go out in public and keep myself covered without this!

The Ultimate Shower Gift

My sister is due with her first baby in November so I thought what better way to welcome the babe than showering her with my entire line of baby gear! The diaper bag, 'Breakfast nook' nursing cover, 'Just in case' diaper case, changing pad (not pictured), and mini tote for her things. I'm giving it to her this weekend and can't wait to see her open it!
